Cree Creation: Reflections and actions of the Family of the Incarnation in the face of COP 31
Dear sisters and members of the Family of the Incarnation:
Once again, the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change will be held in November. COPs — Conference of the Parties - are high-level conferences organized by the United Nations that bring together States, regional organizations and non-State actors to update commitments and set new goals. This year, COP 31 will take place in Antalya, Turkey.

The words of Leo XIV resonate with total topicality: “Creation cries out through floods, droughts, storms and relentless heat… One in three people, lives in a situation of great vulnerability due to these climate changes. For them, climate change is not a distant threat; to ignore these people is to deny our shared humanity. ”
Some of the real progress expected from this summit:
• A binding roadmap for the phase-out of fossil fuels, accompanied by the removal of fossil fuel subsidies and the suspension of new exploration permits.
• Increased funding for the fight against climate change.
• Food sovereignty and agroecology: Although food systems account for a third of global emissions, they receive less than 3% of climate change funds.
In these times of retreat from the climate agenda, it is necessary to make a firm commitment to transform the commitments made at previous COPs into concrete actions and changes, accompanied by the necessary funding.
At our level, one way to take part in this commitment is to become aware of our responsibility as consumers.
In a system governed by the mechanisms of planned obsolescence- which consists of

• Obsolescence = being obsolete, depreciated
When the act of purchasing ceases to be a functional necessity to become the main source of identity, status and sense of belonging, practicing the economy of sufficiency becomes a prophetic act.
That our solidarity translates into daily habits and choices is the essence of what we can do.
